[Q&A]

As it is evident, due to the Open Source influenced characteristics of the methodology many questions arise. The majority of which can only be answered empirically during the unexpected and beyond control time of the fieldwork.

Q. To what extent do the participants have control over the outcome and authorship of the thesis?

A. I would say that they should have total control, but this cannot be a definitive answer.

Q.To whom does the film belong? Especially since you are planning to curate the material.

A. The film would be mine, but at the same time, it would belong to everyone [or at least to all the participants]. I would not claim any copyrights over it and I am not planning to get any money out of it. All the material would be, according to the ideals of CopyLeft and Creative Commons, under a public on-commercial license. In that sense, my film would be just one out of the infinite potential interpretations of the material. The participants are encouraged to create their own film or written analysis.

Q. How open is the project? And who exactly is “everyone”?

A. That is a difficult one. Although I would love to see this as a completely open and accessible project, I cannot really predict if such a dream is feasible considering the fact that I am just a masters student. This challenge is something that I would have to face during the scaling-up of the invitation process.
